Kurai is a Japanese word that corresponds to the adjective «dark»,
without «gothic» or other emotional references. In a certain sense,
Kurai is the Yûgen’s «shadow», both because draws on some hints from it
(directly from Labirinto d’acqua), and above all because dissolves its
metronomic rigour, in order to give room to such a huge breath that
sometimes sounds inhuman. Exactly alike is the attention to colours,
nuances, deepness, in this case favouring the acoustic instruments.
Improvisation, widely used in several tracks, is never an end in
itself, but gives the rough material for the real «composition»: an
attempt to crystallize a «not written» emotion, otherwise unrecoverable. |
